Little Coombe Cedar Yurts: Think woodland, hooting owls and back to nature relaxation, and combine with the most comfortable place you can think of - offering everything from dishwasher and WiFi to en suite showers, underfloor heating and even a Cedar hot tub on the deck. The result? You've got it: it's these superb cedar-clad yurts of which we have four, Owl, Pheasant, Buzzard and Woodpecker.
Perched on the slope of a sun-dappled wooded valley, they are cedar-clad from top to toe so as to blend subtly into its tranquil setting. You're not just close to nature here - you're slap bang right in the middle of it, and what's more the yurts have cleverly cantilevered decks (eat your heart out, Grand Designs) that offer jaw-droppingly beautiful views through the treetops to the valley below.
Your story starts at the shared parking area, where you unload your kit onto a wheel barrow for the short toddle to the unique site. From the huge deck - effectively an outside room, where al fresco meals are a must - the entrance leads you into either the main yurt, an incredible eight metres in diameter, or the smaller yurt, a generous four metres from side to side. They boast WiFi and even full underfloor heating, so you'll be toasty whatever the weather's doing outside. This is indeed luxury glamping at its very best.
The main yurt is cleverly divided into sitting, cooking, dining, sleeping and shower areas, with a fully fitted kitchen (including an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave), a king-sized bed, an en suite shower-room and proper flushing loo, and a tucked-away washing machine. A wood-burning stove means you can build up a roaring fire and gather round with whisky or hot chocolate and, if you're in danger of missing your favourite show, there is also a TV and Blue Ray DVD player and also a Bose Soundlink mini speaker system. Across the hallway in the smaller yurt you'll find triple bunk-beds (not for the very large) and another en suite shower-room with WC and wash-basin. Oh yes, and you can all look out for the local wildlife, including the occasional deer, perhaps a fox or maybe a badger, you can relax in the Cedar hot tub which is heated via a wood burning stove, while at night you'll fall asleep to the atmospheric hoots of owls and the occasional squawk of a pheasant.
